The Bengis Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the Guilford Glazer Faculty of Business and Management at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev was established in response to the ever-growing need for understanding the main issues being faced today in the fields of entrepreneurship, innovation and hi-tech management. The Centers’ vision, fostered by the foresight of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, is to promote a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation, support their practice, and conduct research in these areas. Based on that vision, the Center serves as a means of creating an ecosystem of innovation with far-reaching impact in the city of Beer-Sheva, the Negev region and the State of Israel.
The Bengis Center is involved in an impressive range of programs cultivating entrepreneurship and innovation. Among the many activities taking place are business plan competitions, conferences, lectures and workshops, TEDx events, hackathons and many more – all open to the public. The Center also supports research activity, initiates and holds academic courses, brings in guest lecturers, and runs international courses in partnership with leading universities overseas.
An important component of the Center’s activities is the regional communal aspect – always making sure to include activities that benefit the Negev region, in cooperation with local organizations. These activities include business plan competitions focused on projects assisting regional economic development, events held at local pubs in the city of Beer-Sheva, support of local youth activities related to innovation and more. Many of these activities are in collaboration with other entities from the university, the region, throughout Israel and overseas.
Recently, together with B.G.N. Technologies, the “Inno-Negev Technological Accelerator” was founded, providing entrepreneurs in their early stages with the support and tools needed for developing their ability to increase the viability and success of their new ventures.
